Additional Details
Is there anywhere in the quarn then it will tell us who will be a caliph after mohammed(SAW) because i havmnt got a clue who should of lead or did and to be honest i just would follow the teaching of the holy prophet muhammed(SAW) and thats it and i read quarn as much as i can so inshallah im on right path so would this mean im sunni out of all the sects? Also i belive jesus was raised up and will come down again but my friend from differnt sect belives im wrong that the quarn tells us jesus was taken to kashmere and died normal death at old age?i dont ever see this so why would that sect think it ?jazakallah khair for all answers
thank for answers i have learnt the basics and im a practising muslim and when people ask me what sect i say im a muslim and they go on to confuse me about the sects thing so its not that im focusing to much on it just as a muslim women it good to ask my brothers and sisters in Islam my concerns and maybe it help them think about dividing themselfs into sects as it causes wars and hatred between muslims when we all slaves to Allah and should as muslims live in peace ..Alhamdullah we lucky to be muslim so we shpould set example to the non belivers they wont wanna look into islam if they see us arguing ect..Islam is a beautiful religon i wish people would learn b4 makingnasty remarks.thank u to those who answerd
Asalaamun Alaikum,
I pray that by the grace of Allah (swa) you are well. I completely agree with your point, that regardless of the differences in sects we are first and foremost Muslims and we should be presenting a united front to the rest of the world, especially in these troubling times when Islam is portrayed so negatively. We all believe in Allah as the one and only God and the Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) as the last messenger. We all fast in Ramadhan, go on Hajj, pay our zakaat and pray our namaaz’s. We should be focussing on the similarities we all have rather than any sectual differences.
I am not going to go into the history as to why different sects were formed as I believe that one should do their own research and then come to a conclusion as to who was rightfully the first caliph. Afterall, Islam is a religion that encourages the seeking of knowledge. However, regardless of who you believe to be the first caliph, the Islam we practise is the same. I would also like to point out that a lot of the supposed sectual differences are in fact the application of culture into the religion. We must all be aware of the difference between cultural differences and the rules of religion. In regards to if the Qur’an specifies who should have been the next caliph I don’t think that there are any clear references in relation to that. However, Shi’as believe that after the completion of his last Hajj the Holy Prophet announced that he had chosen Ali to be his appointed successor. This event is known as Ghadeer.
I too believe that Jesus will be reserrected again close to the day of judgement and have never heard anything about him having died in Kashmir… also that seems like quite a random area for his last resting place. Common sense dictates that it would be either Israel or Arabia.
I hope that this helps, and apologise if you feel that the question hasn’t been answered or has simply raised more questions.

Shiite = A member of the branch of Islam that regards Ali and his descendants as the legitimate successors to Muhammad and rejects the first three caliphs.
Sunnite = The branch of Islam that accepts the first four caliphs as rightful successors of Muhammad

So even you understand that Muslims can’t get along with anybody, even themselves. And yet, you still believe it’s the ‘religion of peace’ ?

see islam is accepting that Allah is one and accepting that prophet mohammad PBUH is the last messenger of Allah….one who accepts this becomes a mulim. now even if he doesnt except the imams doesnt matter as faras he is beleiving the first two things. now every sec beleives in diferent thing. you can take quran and read it with transalation of an authantic translator. and hadith books by bukhari and muslim and stop thinking that why secs what beleif etc. you are muslim not sunni and not shia………they are there because of difference of opinion in several matters and qurrel bcause your leaders brainwash them that the other sec are not muslims. the first criteria is accepting allah is one and mohammad PBUH is last messanger and the there are two other parts of your faiths in which you are tought to beleive that quran is the book from allah, and accepting all the other books and messenger and day of judement etc. so no where it states that if you ar shia you are muslim and if you are sunni yu are not etc……so for a mumslim who has coverted recently you should not focus on the differnces but the basics of religion and try to practice islam. rest the secs are non of your business

As-salaam mulaikum.
Shaikh Mahmood Shaltoot is one of the sunni’s most revered scholars.
His Excellency was asked:
Some believe that, for a Muslim to have religiously correct worship and dealing, it is necessary to follow one of the four known schools of thought, whereas, "al-Shia al-Imamiyyah" school of thought is not one of them nor "al-Shia al-Zaidiyyah." Do your Excellency agree with this opinion, and prohibit following "al-Shia al-Imamiyyah al-Ithna Ashariyyah" school of thought, for example?
His Excellency replied
1) Islam does not require a Muslim to follow a particular Madh’hab (school of thought). Rather, we say: every Muslim has the right to follow one of the schools of thought which has been correctly narrated and its verdicts have been compiled in its books. And, everyone who is following such Madhahib [schools of thought] can transfer to another school, and there shall be no crime on him for doing so.
2) The Ja’fari school of thought, which is also known as "al-Shia al- Imamiyyah al-Ithna Ashariyyah" (i.e., The Twelver Imami Shi’ites) is a school of thought that is religiously correct to follow in worship as are other Sunni schools of thought.
Muslims must know this, and ought to refrain from unjust prejudice to any particular school of thought, since the religion of Allah and His Divine Law (Shari’ah) was never restricted to a particular school of thought. Their jurists (Mujtahidoon) are accepted by Almighty Allah, and it is permissible to the "non-Mujtahid" to follow them and to accord with their teaching whether in worship (Ibadaat) or transactions (Mu’amilaat).
Jesus(pbuh) was not killed. The proof is in the Quran.
As-salaam mulaikum.

In simple terms, the Muslims and their Islamic religion are still living somewhere in the 14thC or even earlier.
The Muslim mindset of the West is bound up with the word CRUSADE and CRUSADERS.
